And it's a belt drive machine with relatively small ways so I would expect these factors to possibly contribute. Usually 1 1/16 diameter x 16tpi Remington threads aren't too difficult, but if things aren't rigid enough you can get chatter. One of my major concerns is the threading. Possibly the tailstock would have to extend a couple of inches off the bed when withdrawing the reamer, but again I think I could accommodate to this. Most of my work would be on 22 to 26" long barrels, so I think I could probably squeeze by with a 30" center distance for chamber reaming. This is the "classic" method used, I believe, before spindle bores were particularly large and "everybody" was using the old 9 and 10- inch South Bend's. And using the steady for chambering and most likely crowning. For outside the chuck work, I would be threading between centers, not using the steady. I'd love to get some real life experience with the Myford, but that would mean buying one and then the die would be cast for better or worse if you know what I mean.
